Wayne Breunig Managing Director

Wayne serves as Managing Director of the Public Finance Department of Duncan-Williams. In this role, he has overseen the underwriting of more than $16.3 billion (par amount) of municipal bonds, including governmental, education, healthcare, special districts, multi-family housing, and airport authority issues.

Previously, Wayne worked in a variety of banking capacities, including establishing and serving as registered principal of the broker-dealer subsidiary of a commercial bank, where he managed operations. Previously, as an investment banker working for the broker-dealer division of another regional commercial bank, he developed analyses to help financial institutions manage their securities and loan portfolios. He also worked on the bank’s whole loan trading desk, where he had transactional responsibility for trading pools of up to $250 million, with annual volume averaging approximately $4 billion.

Other banking experience includes five years as CEO of a mortgage servicing company operating in more than 40 states. Wayne also participated in the startup of a de novo state charted commercial bank, where he served on the board of directors and chairman of the audit committee.

Wayne spent the first ten years of his career as a CPA in Public Accounting. His clients included public and privately owned commercial companies, financial institutions, and securities broker-dealers. At that time, financial institutions engaged in private securitizations of mortgage loans, and he performed collateral audits of those structures.

Wayne is a graduate of the University of Evansville with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. More recently he served as President of the Alumni Board. He earned a MBA degree in Finance from the University of Michigan. He holds the Series 24, 52, 62, 63, and 79 licenses, which qualify him as a General Principal for the department.

A.O. “Buddy” Crihfield Managing Director, Southeast Region

Buddy has pursued a career in investment banking for more than 35 years. He currently works mainly in the housing sector, utilizing FHA insurance, USDA guarantees and Section 42 LIHTC. Buddy has worked closely with the State of Mississippi on numerous bond financings, including three IHL issues for on-campus university housing for which Duncan-Williams was senior manager in 2009.

Before joining Duncan-Williams, Buddy was Executive Vice President of the whole loan mortgage trading desk for a large national bank, where he was responsible for the purchase and sale of single family housing loans. Loan portfolios were purchased from banks and thrifts, and securitized or sold as whole loans to FHLMC or FNMA. This position entailed the oversight of 65 employees required for due diligence and compliance. The bank purchased and resold portfolios in pools in excess of $200 million. Previously, Buddy worked for a Memphis-based regional investment banking firm with responsibility for housing and healthcare financings.

Buddy holds the Series 52 and 63 licenses.

E.J. Gregory Senior Vice President, Southeast Region

E. J. Gregory joined Duncan-Williams in August, 2002, where his primary responsibility is to assist the local governments within the State of Mississippi in all areas of their public finance needs. During his tenure, the firm has participated in over $6.006 billion in financings for Mississippi clients and has consistently ranked #1 in total number of issues within the State over the past six years.

In 2014, he served as a panelist for educational seminars put on by the Mississippi Chancery Clerk’s Association and the Municipal Clerks and Collectors Association discussing municipal bonds and continuing disclosure issues and how they impact City and County Bond issuance. In 2011, Mr. Gregory was appointed by the Secretary of State of Mississippi to a Public Finance Study Group that was charged with the responsibility of reviewing and making recommendations to the Secretary of State and the Mississippi Legislature regarding changes to the Public Improvement District financing laws. He worked along with bond attorneys, municipal advisors, and other public finance professionals from across the state to make changes that were subsequently adopted by the Legislature to improve the PID law.

Previously, E. J. owned and operated Gregory Real Estate, a real estate brokerage firm in North Mississippi. In addition to holding a real estate brokers’ license, he also holds two designations from the Mississippi Department of Revenue as a certified county ad valorem tax appraiser.

Mr. Gregory is a graduate of the University of Mississippi with a degree in Public Administration. He holds the Series 52 and 63 licenses.

Dwight Clark Vice President

Dwight joined Duncan-Williams in September 2003 as a Municipal Finance Analyst and has helped direct billions of dollars of municipal financings. In his role in the Public Finance Department, Dwight provides expertise in local and state municipalities, low income housing, airports, infrastructure, and not-for-profit healthcare.

From the commencement of a debt review to pricing, Dwight’s involvement in all aspects of the analytical process provides a tailored experience for clients and enhances the financing strategy and execution processes at the firm. He works closely with rating agencies, implements compliance standards, and assists with documentation during pricing.

Dwight graduated with a BA in Mathematics from Williams College and an MBA from the University of Tennessee with a concentration in Finance. He holds Series 7, 52, 53, 63 and 79 licenses.

Mitch Ross Lead Banker and Analyst

Mitch Ross joined Duncan-Williams in August 2013 as Lead Banker and Analyst in the Memphis office. His primary responsibility is to assist in issues for municipal bonds across many sectors, including, governmental, education, special districts, and healthcare.

Mitch, a lifelong resident of Tennessee, brings an understanding of local government issues to the firm. In his role as an analyst, he provides continuous oversight of financing trends and actively updates client debt scenarios for refunding opportunities and in preparation for new issues. Along with the senior analytical team, he is involved in all aspects of the analytical process to provide a tailored experience for clients and enhance the financing strategy and execution process at the firm. He has worked across our practice groups in both public and corporate finance supporting senior bankers with transactional analysis and deal execution. Before joining Duncan-Williams, Mitch served as an intern at Morgan Keegan & Company in the Equity Research Group and at ABB as a financial cost analyst.

Mitch received his BA in Sociology from Harvard University, in which he was a letterman for their varsity football team. He holds Series 52, 63 and 79 licenses.

Tyree Daniels Managing Director, Municipal Debt Capital Markets Banking

Tyree C. Daniels has over 15 years of public finance experience. His current responsibilities as Managing Director in the Municipal Debt Capital Markets Banking group include debt structuring, redevelopment, fixed-variable rate debt management, debt capacity analysis, project finance, and financings for pension and other post-employment benefits. During his career, he has managed and provided analyses on 57 negotiated underwriting transactions aggregating a par value of over $4 billion.

Mr. Daniels is a native of Mobile, Alabama and is known for his innovative debt-restructuring, OPEB and redevelopment skills in the public finance industry. He has led numerous senior-managed transactions for the State of Tennessee, City of Atlanta, Georgia, City of Memphis, Tennessee, and City of Birmingham, Alabama as well as other local governments and governmental entities.

He is a noted speaker on the subjects of urban youth development, fundraising, and education advocacy. He is a highly sought speaker and lecturer on nonprofit fundraising, leadership, and urban youth development. He has delivered more than 500 speeches throughout his career at colleges and universities throughout the Southeast.

Mr. Daniels graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Economics and Finance from Christian Brothers University. He holds the Series 7 and 63 licenses.
